Paws to Read

Paws to Read encourages children to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to certified therapy dogs. This partnership allows children to bolster their self-confidence, reduce reading anxiety and enjoy the experience of reading to calming therapy dogs. Each 15-minute session will include a child, parent or guardian, a dog handler and a licensed therapy dog. Children read aloud for about 10 minutes followed by time to interact with the dog. In-person sign up is required and available at the Service Desk in the Kids & Family section starting at 3:30 pm on the day of the event. Parent or guardian supervision is required during the entire reading session. Space is limited.
